Leveled Reader Cards
Leveled Reader Cards are two-sided, either single or gate-folded cards, that delivers cross-curricular lessons to students. I was given a manuscript and a blank canvas. I owned the entire creative process, from concept, through photo research, to final.
Heating Up with Thermal Energy is for grade 3 students. The overall design is a photo collage to create each scene to support specific types of thermal energy. All photos are heavily manipulated to create cohesive scenes. I designed and developed the character, Marshall. I started out with flat vector-style art, then traditional cartoon-style art, and finally settled on a rendered-style art. The girl character is the side kick to Marshall, and needed to be consistent throughout. As this project was not budgeted for model photo shoots, I needed to find stock photos and supplement with photos of 'look alike' girls with image manipulations.
