Short Read
Short Read is a short article that introduces the theme or topic of a unit. While these articles are part of a Reading program, their content often covers cross-curricular topics, such as science or social studies.
What's Good to Read? went through a bit of transformation. Initial report was to show a photographic background of a bike, with a realia of a page from a notebook with a kid's book report. This concept looked too much like a textbook, rather than a magazine article. So, I scratched that idea and decided to shift the focus from a report to the student (verso) and Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah (recto) whom the biography is about. I played with the sizing to create spatial depth, and instead of relying on realia, I turned this design into a snapshot of the student's imagination.
